Job Description

C&ES is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our “TEAM” for a construction program at Duval County Public Schools (DCPS). In this role, you will work closely with the Project Manager to oversee and manage various aspects of the construction projects within the school district. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of educational facilities and make a positive impact on the community. Assisting with project planning, coordinating with stakeholders, monitoring progress, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Project Planning: Assisting the Project Manager in developing project plans, setting objectives, and defining project scopes. Collaborating with stakeholders to identify project requirements and establish timelines.

Coordination: Facilitating effective communication and coordination among various project stakeholders, including contractors, architects, engineers, and school personnel. Ensuring all parties are aligned and working towards project goals.
Progress Monitoring: Tracking project progress, monitoring key milestones, and identifying any potential risks or delays. Implementing corrective measures when necessary to keep the project on track.

Budget and Schedule Management: Assisting in the management of project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking expenses, and managing financial documentation. Monitoring project schedules to ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and safety standards. Conducting quality inspections and overseeing quality control processes to maintain high construction standards.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports. Providing regular updates to the Project Manager and stakeholders on project status, issues, and achievements.

Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving project-related challenges and obstacles in a proactive and timely manner. Collaborating with team members to find innovative solutions and ensure project success.

Team Support: Assisting the Project Manager in managing project team members, assigning tasks, and providing guidance and support as needed.

Required Skills/Qualifications

As an Assistant Project Manager for the construction program at Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) should be able to provide.

Proven Prior Experience in Construction Project Management and the Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with project stakeholders.
Attentive to detail and the ability to review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Exceptional organizational, and time management skills to manage project schedules, resources, and budgets effectively.
A bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, engineering, architecture, or a related field. A solid educational foundation in construction principles, project planning, and management practices is highly valued. Equivalent work experience in the construction industry will be considered in lieu of a degree.
